Henna

Growing up, I used to love wearing henna. Me and Anjali would always compete with each other for making the best henna designs. We used to make tattoos with black henna and spend hours and hours making all these designs. However, things change with time. Now I don’t like wearing it or even the smell of it. Today I wore henna after so long. To guess right probably after 2-3 years. But it felt good. It reminded me of all the times Mumma took us to baghali to get henna done. I used to love going shopping with momma and getting henna done when she would get it done for her. The streets of baghali, the henna artists on the streets, and the crowd. It used to be so busy during Karwa Chauth. The streets were full of people. Wives shopping for the best bangles, finding the right colors, getting their henna done, and finding matching jewelry. So many of them, wanting the best for themselves. Laughs, chatter, and night lights. The atmosphere used to be so lively and cheerful. And that is how India is. The streets were the same for every festival. There was something about the way people celebrated these little festivals. There was so much love and enthusiasm. I am glad I got to experience it and that I have lovely memories to look back on.

But yeah, I think I did a pretty good job. Dad is really impressed with my skills too haha. But yeah this was fun. I did it for momma too cause today is Karwa Chauth. This is the day when wives fast for the well-being of their husbands and they all get henna done. Well! mommy was dozing throughout but I managed to do something for her hehe. Yay! Today was fun :)
